Philanthropy without Borders was founded by Caliopy Glaros. As an anthropologist, fundraising expert, and intercultural trainer, Caliopy’s work is informed by a decade of on-the-ground experience in over 30 countries, as well as designing and facilitating programs in more than 60 nations on five continents. Before launching her own practice, Caliopy led the Fundraising Department for an international NGO and consulted nonprofits, government entities, and higher education institutions.
In addition to serving as Managing Director of Philanthropy without Borders, Caliopy holds several leadership roles in professional associations committed to elevating the field of philanthropic travel:
- Philanthropy Ambassador for the Transformational Travel Council
- Chair of the Committee on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Access for the Association of Fundraising Professionals
- Impact Travel Writer for the Association for Travel Advisors Magazine
- Featured Speaker for the Nonprofit Technology Conference and the Educational Travel Consortium
Caliopy’s extensive fundraising and travel experience, academic background in Anthropology and Adult Learning, and professional certification in Intercultural Training add a unique dimension to her work, and position Philanthropy without Borders as a one-of-a-kind player in the field of philanthropic travel.
On a personal note, Caliopy speaks three languages and – as a result of growing up bi-nationally and tri-culturally – has perpetual difficulty answering the question “where are you from?”
Caliopy and a vast network of resource experts, travel partners, and fellow fundraisers make up the “we” of Philanthropy without Borders. To learn more about her work, check out the articles she authors for this website or get in touch with her directly. Your vision matters to us and we would love to learn how Philanthropy without Borders can elevate your work.
