“Caliopy Glares has a unique, proven, and well curated approach to setting meeting goals, facilitating discussions skillfully and delivering an experience that engages not only participants’ minds but also their hearts and passion for the meeting agenda at hand. She has an expert skill – albeit innate! – in tailoring her work for each client and group. Her work with our Executive Advisory Council’s mid-year planning meeting in Northern Ireland resulted in accolades from all participants as one of the most productive EAC meetings ever. Caliopy’s pre-meeting discussions proved invaluable for setting the energizing tone and format in addition to honing in on the most critical priorities for meeting content. Her sensitivity to the participants’ energy and shifting commentaries and questioning approach throughout the meeting ensured that all voices were heard and critical thinking and reflection remained central in all discussions. Her gracious and flexible facilitator-approach to listening and leading encouraged the free ebb and flow of commentary on a myriad of tangents, and ensured that all deliverables were met – and in fact exceeded!”
“My work with Caliopy and Philanthropy Without Borders has been instrumental in ensuring the successful launch of our newly structured Educational Travel Program. Caliopy’s guidance, tools, thought partnership and strategic support have significantly advanced our member trip offerings, improving our ability to create transformational relationships with our donors. In addition, Caliopy has helped us establish a formal private custom journeys program and invitation-only major donor trip model, which have helped us better leverage our midlevel, planned giving, and major gifts donor strategies. She really spent time understanding our organizational needs and challenges so she could help us truly optimize our processes for impact and efficiency. Caliopy’s background in fundraising coupled with her extensive knowledge of affinity travel positions her perfectly to help any organization that is trying to build out or enhance their place-based (and virtual) donor engagement tools. Our entire team has benefited from her work and I can’t recommend her enough!”
“I begun working with Philanthropy Without Borders after a conversation with Caliopy sparked some thinking about my team’s programming. I She was raising issues that weren’t even on our radar, and had such a unique perspective from the travel and fundraising realm. Meetings with Caliopy were so refreshing! She had a keen instinct for our timeline and I always left meetings feeling joyful and with fresh knowledge and clear next steps.
The project we collaborated on is going to revolutionize not only parts of my actual job, but boost the skill and confidence my colleagues will have as they venture out into the field. This has been my favorite collaboration in 14 years at my job!“
“I discovered Philanthropy without Borders at a time when I was trying new strategies for our travel program. I turned to Caliopy for coaching sessions to test my thinking, evaluate my program’s recruitment strategies, optimize our processes, and solve challenges around trip customization. From the start, Caliopy conducted a thorough assessment of our program and offered thoughtful, informed guidance.
I particularly liked how Caliopy structured our agenda to address whatever was top of mind and pressing for me in the moment. She served as my thought partner, helping me grow professionally and strengthening my program. Everyone on my team has felt the ripple effect of my coaching with Caliopy, and we all feel jazzed by the incredible guidance and resources she’s offered.”
“I love Caliopy’s ability to engage in concept planning, her on-camera presence, her arsenal of problem solving tools, her thoroughness, her reliability, and her receptivity to large and small projects. Her extensive experience shines every time she is with us. How happy I am to have connected with her and to have experienced a service that always exceeds my expectations.”
“What an incredible honor to have you share your passion, wisdom, and knowledge at our Gathering and as a member of The Transformational Travel Council Advisory Council. We’re committed to raising awareness and continuing the dialogue related to these important topics and issues facing travelers, destinations, and the entire travel and hospitality space. In your presentation, I really appreciated how you stressed the importance of experiencing the light and the dark side of a destination no matter how uncomfortable it might be. It’s these emotions that often awaken individuals to how important it is to make mindful choices when they travel.”
Caliopy has been an extremely helpful resource to us as a start-up nonprofit organization. Drawing from her extensive background in fundraising, she has been able to share specific details related to this area of development, which has been essential to our understanding of how and when to approach certain donors. Most helpful have been her very specific answers to our questions, with very pointed and detailed advice on approach. The language she uses is extremely eloquent and professional while effectively delivering the message – her vernacular has been an excellent guide for us as we have begun approaching donors.
Caliopy’s deep understanding of what drives donors to engage with the causes they care about, combined with her expertise in international development and communications gives her the ideal perspective to help your organization get the biggest benefit from your international donor trips. Her attention to detail will help make sure you create a flawless program from start to finish, while keeping the focus on the big-picture to connect your donors to a deeply moving experience, leading to bigger gifts!
Every year, we prepare about fifty young people for their future lives in Japan—and we have only mere hours to do it. How do you teach international work and life skills to so many in such a short amount of time? You call Caliopy.
Her approach engaged participants and made them think critically about how they might handle intercultural issues. This also opened a dialogue where we could challenge their preconceived notions about life in Japan without talking down to them—not an easy thing to accomplish.
Bottom line: if you need someone to prepare your group for the challenges of international communication, call Caliopy. She has the knowledge, and more importantly the experience, to successfully prepare groups for success in international relations.
Caliopy’s presentation was the foundational session for our Conversations in Global Health series. All other sessions built on the information and recommendations introduced during her presentation. After reviewing student feedback on her presentation style and the information covered, I realized that this topic didn’t “just make sense” but that it was critical to include given the limited exposure that many students had on how to put cultural differences into perspective and to embrace those differences. I definitely recommend Caliopy to any group of individuals who engages with and values cultural awareness and embracing and capitalizing on differences!
